PPG to Co-Sponsor Dec. 8 Learning Event for Architects in Atlanta

PPG Industries is co-sponsoring a free networking, educational and social event for architects on “How Is Technology Shaping Architecture?” at the King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta on Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event, which also is hosted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Atlanta chapter and ARCHITECT magazine, will feature presentations by three experts followed by a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. The presenters are:

  •     Daniel Davis, lead researcher for WeWork, a company that provides collaborative, shared workspaces for professionals and startups;
  •     Scott Marble, founding partner of Marble Fairbanks Architects in New York and recently appointed William H. Harrison Chair of the School of Architecture at Georgia Tech; and
  •     Eric Feron, currently a professor of aerospace software engineering at Georgia Tech and formerly a faculty member in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Together, the three will discuss “The Internet of Places: What Smart Architecture Looks Like,” covering how beacons, sensors and industrial “Internet of Things” (IOT) technology is changing what architects can learn from post-occupancy studies and how that information can drive decision-making and insights into vital – even life-saving – data for individual building projects and the industry as a whole.

Seminar attendees can earn one AIA learning unit, and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served. To register, visit www.InternetofThingsEvent.com.
